PM in Amber Valley

On Friday 9th May, I was delighted to welcome the Prime Minister, David Cameron MP, to Amber Valley. This was his second visit as Prime Minister.

I took him to see Denby-based HL Plastics, where we saw some of the great work that they do employing local people and growing their business, which makes parts for windows, doors, fencing, conservatories, decking and piling. The Prime Minister met the business management, had a factory tour and then conducted a question and answer session with employees of the firm.

Commenting, the Prime Minister said: “I wanted to come and see a business that is growing and expanding and try to listen to the team here.”

It was great to see the Prime Minister in Amber Valley again. HL Plastics is a great local business that has ridden out the recession and is now growing with 450 employees and innovating new products. They are one of the success stories in the area and have contributed greatly to the fall in unemployment in this area. It was also encouraging to see them hiring apprentices, giving young people their first job.
