As part of my contributions to the Finance Bill Committee in late April, I moved an amendment which called on the Government to simplify corporation tax. Given we have the longest tax code in the world – and one which creates any number of loop holes for people to support – there is a great need for some real tax simplification. That way it would be easier for business to comply, easier for HMRC to enforce and easier to attract investment to this country.
