Nigel’s May 2019 Covid-19 newsletter – virtual residents’ meetings

Dear Constituent,

Thank you to everyone who joined my Facebook live Q&A meeting a few weeks ago and thank you to all the businesses who have joined my virtual business roundtables over this last week.

The Prime Minister announced the phased plans to begin our country’s recovery from Covid-19. You can read the full plan here, the workplace guidance here and a series of FAQs on what you can and can’t do under the current guidance here

Invitation to virtual residents’ meeting via video conference – 6pm, Tuesday 19th May 2020:

I know many constituents will have questions as a result of the new guidance and the phased recovery plan. Therefore, I’m organising a virtual residents’ meeting, which will initially take the form of a video conference at 6pm on Tuesday 19th May 2020. If you would like to join this video meeting to ask any questions, please reply to this email or email nigel.mills.mp@parliament.uk and I will send you the link to participate.

As always, if you have a personal or specific issue you would like to raise with me, or for a virtual surgery appointment, do also continue to contact me by replying to this email or by ringing 01773 744341.

Covid-19 support and advice:

As a reminder from my last email, you can find links to and details of the latest health advice, local support and Government support for individuals and businesses on the Covid-19 support page on my website here

Today, HMRC’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme has gone live for claims. You can check your eligibility and find out when to claim here

Virtual Parliament & Committees:

The currently mainly virtual Parliament and committees are all running and working, and you can follow parliamentary business on Parliament.live.tv here

I’ve been continuing to participate in select committee meetings and asking questions in the House. Yesterday, I took part in a Work & Pensions Committee session with the Health & Safety Executive, which provided information and reassurance on employees safely returning to work; you can find more details about this and watch the session here

I’ve also asked questions on safely repatriating British citizens stranded on cruise ships (which you can find the debate on here) and supporting Amber Valley businesses through this difficult time (you can find the full debate on this here).

Street Watch:

As always, if there are any street repairs in your area, such as potholes, pavement repairs or broken street lights, you can report these issues and concerns to me quickly and easily here so I can ask for the repairs to be investigated and addressed.

GDPR and privacy notice:

Data laws have recently changed with the introduction of the new GDPR legislation. You can find my office’s privacy policy here and, if you don’t want to receive these emails anymore, you can unsubscribe here.

Get in Touch!

As always, you can contact me by hitting the ‘reply’ button on this email, or you can ring my office on 01773 744341.
