Amber Valley Jobs Fair – Friday 27th February at Ripley Leisure Centre

Getting unemployment down in Amber Valley was a promise I made to my constituents. I’ve worked hard to do this and I’m pleased to say that that claimant count is down from 4.9% at the time I was elected to 1.9% now. That means it’s more than halved – but there’s more to do, which is why I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be holding my third Amber Valley Jobs Fair at Ripley Leisure Centre on Friday 27th February between 10 AM and 4 PM.

The last two were great successes, with a combined total of over 1,600 constituents attending the Fairs and hundreds finding work or training opportunities as a direct result.

We’ve already had plenty of good local employers register to attend, including Deb, Manthorpe Group, Owen Taylor & Son, BPI Recycled Products, Birchwood Homecaring Services, Essential Recruitment, Armed Forces, UPS, McDonalds, Places for People Leisure, Leonard Cheshire Disability, GI Group, Futures Housing Group, Carewatch and many more.

Seminars will also run during the day: QA Associates is to run a seminar on CVs, money management and job applications; A4e is to run one on overcoming interview objections; and Being Your Own Boss is to run one on starting your own business. If you’re interested in registering to attend a seminar, please visit the web site and click ‘seminars’ for more information.

Amber Valley Borough Council is providing free car parking to those attending the fair. Trent Barton is offering a half-price zigzag ticket to constituents travelling to the fair on that day – downloadable from the event’s web site. Other supporters of the event include Places for People Leisure and the Leaf and Loaf in Codnor.

We’ve been inundated with demand for the event from employers and training providers. There’ll be great opportunities for part-time and full-time vacancies, along with training and apprenticeships, so I’d encourage all constituents looking for opportunities to come along. There’s no need to register to attend if you’re a constituent – just come along.

If you’re a business or organisation and you’d like to attend to register for a stall, you can register online here, or call my office on 01773 744 341.
