On Thursday 29th August I had the pleasure of visiting A4e’s offices in Alfreton. During the visit I met with Nick Griffiths, the Manager of the site, and his staff, to see their great efforts to deliver the Work Programme.
While I was there I had the opportunity to sit in on one of their Enterprise Awareness seminars, which is aimed at 18-24 year-olds to encourage them to start their own businesses. It was great to see this sort of project aimed at younger people – we need more businesses here in Amber Valley to provide the jobs and growth we need both now and going forward.
The visit allowed me to see first hand that the Work Programme is having a real, positive impact on my constituents’ lives. It’s part of our overall efforts to reform the welfare system and make sure we’re on the side of people who want to work hard and do the right thing.
