Unemployment Halved Since Election

I’m so pleased to report that the number of people claiming Job Seekers’ Allowance in Amber Valley is now 1.9%, compared to 4.9% at the time of the election. This fall is very significant because the claimant count was higher than the the the rest of the East Midlands and the national average when I was elected, and it’s now down to lower levels than both the East Midlands and the national average.

That means that over 1,200 of my constituents are now off benefits, in work or starting their own businesses as a result of the difficult decisions that we have taken, and in turn, the recovery of the local and national economy.
