Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society in Parliament

On Tuesday 17th March, I showed my support for the Alzheimer’s Society – the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia in Parliament to pledge my support for the 850,000 people living with Dementia across the UK. We all have a part to play in improving the lives of people living with dementia. There are around 1,794 people living with dementia here in Amber Valley and I am committed to ensuring they receive the best support.

Since 2010, I am proud that Britain has emerged as the world leader in fighting dementia; investment in research has doubled, hundreds of thousands of NHS staff have been given specialist training and 1 Million ‘Dementia Friends’ have taken part in awareness sessions across the country. This Government has also committed to investing over £300 million into UK research and medical innovation, and an international dementia institute will be established in England with the next 5 years.

I always make sure to support the Alzheimer’s Society whenever I can; they do fantastic work to campaign on behalf of dementia suffers. I was pleased to go along to this event and meet with the team at the Alzheimer’s Society to hear about their work.
