Dear Constituent,

In these challenging and unprecedented times, I hope you’re all keeping safe and well. Please do continue to follow the guidance to stay at home where possible and keep checking the latest Government guidance and support here.

Thank you again to all our key workers and to everyone who is following the stay at home and social distancing guidance. Thank you also to all our local businesses and schools who are working to supply frontline PPE. As just a couple of examples of many in Amber Valley who have fantastically adapted their production, John Flamsteed School’s Design & Technology Department have already produced and supplied 2500 visors, David Nieper are making and supplying gowns to our local hospitals, BPI have donated 10,000 gowns to care homes and are producing for and supplying the NHS, and Concept Plastic Packaging are producing visors.

The Government is continuing to announce unprecedented measures to help people through this crisis with support schemes for individuals, self-employed people and businesses. You can find a link to my Covid-19 support page with details of how to access these support packages below.

If you’re a constituent and would like to ask a question, please either reply to this email with your query, or post it as a comment on the facebook page above. I’ll try to answer as many questions as possible.

If you have a personal or specific issue you would like to raise with me, or for a virtual surgery appointment, do also continue to contact me by replying to this email or by ringing 01773 744341.

Job Retention Scheme – The Government’s Job Retention (furlough) Scheme has also now gone live for employers to submit claims. You can find the claim form and a step by step guide here.

Bounce Back Small Business Loans – Listening to the issues raised by many small businesses trying to access the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loans, the Government has also announced Bounce Back loans for small businesses. Businesses will be able to borrow between £2000 and £50,000 under a new fast-track finance scheme, which will provide loans with a 100% government backed guarantee for lenders. The loans will be interest free for the first 12 months and businesses will be able to apply online for these from Monday 4th May 2020. More details are available here.
