Langley Mill Post Office opening

Langley Mill Post Office Reopening

On Friday 27th February, I visited the Langley Mill Post Office to officially re-open the Post Office following a major refurbishment The Post Office is vital to the community in Langley Mill and I’m sure the improved environment, and the longer opening hours, will be warmly welcomed by the community.

The Post Office will now be open until 5:30pm on Saturdays making it more accessible to local residents, the installation of open-plan counters also make the site much easier for customers and staff to talk.

Under this Parliament, the Government has committed £2bn investment for the Post Office network to update branches and make sure there is no programme of Post Office closures. Nationwide the investment programme will see up to 8,000 branches modernised with additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches.

The Post Office provides a vital service nationally, serving over 17 million customers a week and a third of small businesses. Some 99.7 per cent of the total population live within three miles of a post office and over 97 per cent live within one mile of a branch. For many rural communities, the post office is the only retail outlet and so it is absolutely vital that we invest in local branches to ensure that this important service in our community is not lost. I welcome this refurbishment and am pleased that investment in this vital service has improved access for my constituents.
