Heanor Mighty Mile

On Saturday 7th July I joined a team to abseil a mile down St Lawrence’s Church as part of the Heanor Mighty Mile challenge. The team included County Councillor Kevin Parkinson, the local vicar, Dan Pattimore, Shipley parish council Chairman Gary Wells and Simon Minto from the Traders’ Association. To achieve a mile we all had to abseil down  – and climb the steps up – 15 times. As you’ll see from the photos below (with thanks to Jason Hicking of Replica Imaging), abseiling is not one of my strong points. The Mighty Mile was a great event and I was delighted to support it and the Love Heanor team. Abseiling is also great fun – and as I’ve proved – completely safe!

The proceeds from donations (you can still donate here) will go towards Heanor’s community fair.
