Future of Heanor Grammar School Site

On Thursday 5th February, I was invited to a meeting to discuss the future of the former Heanor Grammar School site. As many of you will be aware, it was announced in January that the site would be being sold due to the failure of the Derby College to successfully open their Digital Studio at the site.

The site has significant value to Heanor town and as such a historic Grade II listed building, I would like to see the site preserved and put to a good use. I supported the plans for the Digital Studio Site being based here and unfortunately this did not turn out to be a viable option for Derby College to proceed with. So, I would very much like to see the site brought back into use with the grade II status being protected, to the benefit of the community.

I know that bids are being accepted on the site during the first half of this month, and I very much welcome proposals that look to preserve the site whilst making use of it to the benefit of the rest of the community.
