Disabled Access at Alfreton Train Station

Many constituents have contacted me about disabled access at Alfreton train station. I agree that work to improve access needs to be done, so I took the opportunity to raise this matter in Parliament on 6th February.

I will continue to push for disabled access improvements in Alfreton.

Here’s an account of the question and answer:

Nigel Mills MP: May I urge the Minister to ensure, when he announces those projects, that Alfreton station, which is in my constituency, is included? Disabled access to both platforms is long overdue, and it really should be provided in the next year.

Robert Goodwill MP (Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Transport); Scarborough and Whitby, Conservative): The criteria that we apply when assessing stations for the purposes of the scheme are the footfall—if that is the right word to use—of disabled people at stations, the level of use, and the number of disabled people in the area.
