On Tuesday 10th September I pledged to support the 800,000 people across the UK living with dementia, including my own constituents affected by the condition.
I joined 200 other MPs and representatives from Alzheimer’s Society in Portcullis House, Westminster to provide a handwritten statement of the action they will take to support people with dementia and their carers.
Dementia is a hard condition to live with – both for the individual with the condition and their family and friends. One in three people over 65 will develop dementia, and it is a health issue that we can no longer afford to ignore.
I will campaign to raise awareness here in Amber Valley and, in doing so, I hope to help tackle the stigma attached to it.
