Community Champions Visit Parliament and No. 10

On Wednesday 11th February, the Prime Minister, David Cameron, invited me and a group of local champions to tour Number 10, Downing Street. It’s always a pleasure to invite constituents to visit Parliament and I welcomed this opportunity to take this group to Number 10 Downing Street.

It was a great day and I made sure to give the group a tour of Parliament beforehand. You can see a photo of us outside Big Ben below.

Following a tour of Parliament, the Prime Minister invited us to Number 10 Downing Street for a tour. It was fantastic to hear about the history behind the building and about the Prime Ministers who have lived there and how they have used the iconic building during their time in office.

As representatives from Amber Valley (photographed above and right), I invited: Carey Ayres, Principal at Ripley Academy; James Lewis, Bamford Auctioneers; Thomas Pochciol, Manthorpe; Richard Taylor, Owen Taylor & Sons; David Wilson, Chairman of the Local British Legion; Christopher Nieper, David Nieper; Reverend David Howe, Heanor Baptist Church; Jeff Counsell, trentbarton and Roger Hartshorn, HL Plastics Ltd.

It was a great opportunity to reward key members of our community who all support our community in Amber Valley in different ways; supporting the local economy by creating jobs, teaching our children to the highest standards to help them get on it life and providing support to serving and ex-servicemen in our community through the British legion amongst others. I am very grateful to the Prime Minister inviting myself and local community champions to Downing Street for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
