Public Accounts Committee – Network Rail Enquiry

As many of you will know, I currently serve as a member of the Public Accounts Select Committee, to which I was elected earlier this year. This Committee does incredibly important work, scrutinising the value for money of public spending, holding the government to account for the delivery of public services.

I am committed to ensuring tax payer money is spent properly and efficiently and I wanted to share further information about a recent inquiry the committee undertook that I know will be of great interest to my constituents – an inquiry into Network Rail.

Reliable and adequate rail infrastructure is an important concern for my constituents and it has always been an area I have paid particularly close attention to. In this session we were able to look very closely at Network Rail and how effectively its share of taxpayer money is spent. It is absolutely vital that we are able to hold Network Rail to account to assess whether value for money is prioritised.

The report has now been published here. You can also read the evidence session and my contributions here.
